Epic Rides  (All rides begin at 9 am)
  • Bend to Sisters Epic 40 Saturday only (40+ miles) High Endurance, mostly Moderately Technical
You will be shuttled to Shevlin Park (west of Bend) where we will ride the Mrazek Trail up the North edge of  Bend’s trail system past Happy Valley to the 370 Road and the Metolius-Windigo Trail. This moderate climb up a playful twisty trail offers some spectacular viewpoints. Catch your breath and enjoy some refreshments at the aid station at Trapper Meadow below Three Creek Lake after 20 miles and 3000’ of climbing. Ahead lies the beautiful and challenging 12 mile singletrack descent on the Metolius-Windigo/“99 Trail” back down to the Whychus Creek overlook, refreshments, and then ten more miles of singletrack down the West leg of the Peterson Ridge Trail back to town. Wash the dust down at Sisters’ Fresh Hop Festival. Option– If you are a Bend rider, you may come directly to Shevlin Park (front parking lot area) and meet the Sisters group there at 9:30 AM for check in.  You may leave your car at Shevlin Park, join the ride, enjoy the Fresh Hops Festival and then catch a shuttle ride back to Shevlin Park to pick up your car. Contact kens@cbbmail or call Ken at 541-771-0864 to arrange this option.

  • Mid-Epic 30  Saturday only (30+ miles) Moderate Endurance, mostly Moderately Technical
You will ascend the East leg of the Peterson Ridge Trail for ten miles to the aid station near the viewpoint above Whychus Creek.  One short mile along the paved road to Three Creek Lake takes you to a red cinder road that climbs SE into the forest toward Melvin Butte, with big views of Broken Top and the Three Sisters. You will be climbing side by side with your pals through big trees to the Upper Three Creek Sno-park along the road to Three Creek Lake. At this point you are fifteen miles and 2000 vertical feet from town. A short climb up the 740 road takes you to a seven mile descent on the challenging Metolius-Windigo/“99 Trail” and then ten more down the West leg of the Peterson Ridge Trail back to town, just like the Epic.

  • PRT Loops/NTP Shorter loops Saturday (20 miles+-) Easy to Moderate Endurance, Technically Easy to Moderate (you choose)
For those not opting for the Epic or Mid-Epic there are nearly thirty miles of trail in the Peterson Ridge Trail System to explore. There will be aid stations in the middle and at the top of the system, and guided rides for beginner and intermediate women as well as the “Nothing to Prove” crowd (aimed at guys, women welcome). While the trail system is simple conceptually (a ladder), it is complex on the ground. Your guide will take you across the coolest connectors and to the semi-secret overlooks, and show you the system from the locals point of view. If you wish to explore on your own, we suggest riding the system’s nineteen mile outside loop clockwise one day, and counterclockwise the next, or the shorter loop of your choice via any one of a dozen connectors between the two legs. Each direction provides a very different experience. The mile long spur at the top of the system takes you to the aid station at the Whychus Creek overlook.  Catch the view and a snack.  Or figure-eight the system for a 27 mile adventure (ride everyconnector climbing and descending).

  • Dark Lake to Sisters Sunday only (20 miles+-) Moderate Endurance Technically

With upper Cache Mountain closed due to fires, we will be riding the bottom section of the Cache Mountain trail from above Dark Lake past Scout Lake and Suttle Lake, then down to and around Black Butte to Indian Ford and back to Sisters via the Sisters Tie Trail. This is 3/4 singletrack, all in excellent shape with the upper bits “primitive”. Beautiful fun route, mostly downhill!

Additional Rides
  • Blazin Beauties! Saturday (distance variable on the PRT system) Easy to Moderate Endurance, Technically Easy to Moderate (you choose)
This women’s only event will be offered at both beginner and intermediate levels. A short yoga session will kick off our morning, followed by a casual skills clinic that will grow your skills and build your confidence. Afterwards we’ll head out to Peterson Ridge to ride the trails. Beginners, you’ll get to try your hand at the level portions of the trail system. Here you’ll find gentle single track that winds through light dips, over small rocks and roots and around trees. The intermediate group will warm up on these same trails before heading up onto Peterson Ridge itself. You’ll ascend the trail over lightly technical rocks and roots, play in a dry creek bed or two and ride down some sweet winding single track. Blazin’ Beauties brings the female riding community together in a fun, pressure-free environment among supportive peers and friends. Check out the Nugget News article about this great event here.

  • Family Loop Saturday to PRT picnic table (12 miles) Easy Endurance, Technically Moderate

This ride is designed for families who would like to explore the Peterson Ridge Trail System and ride to the Peterson Ridge viewpoint where there is a picnic table to sit and relax and take in the great view! Return can be via the nearby cross connector (#21 on map) and back down the east leg. Midway aid station with food and drink is on the road just above the picnic table.

  • Poker Ride Sunday on PRT system (Distance varible, 10+ miles) Easy Endurance, Technically Easy to Moderate (you choose)
Ride from town if you like or take a shuttle to the top of the Peterson Ridge Trail. You and your family or friends will be making your way down the system collecting playing cards at seven locations along the various connectors that tie the two main trail legs together.  Find your way to each card spot, enjoy a leisurely exploration of the system, and return to the Village Green. Best hands win the best prizes.
